We continue our series highlighting great women that are living and working in the Georgian Bay Region. Rosalyn Morrison is passionate about the beautiful Southern Georgian Bay region. Her family has had deep roots in the Simcoe Muskoka district for generations, and she and her husband now live in Craigleith. She is also passionate about the power of community. Formerly, as Senior Advisor to the CEO at the Toronto Foundation www.torontofoundation.ca, she was involved in connecting philanthropy to community needs and opportunities. She was responsible for the Foundation’s research, community convening, and partnerships relating to 100 Resilient Cities, an initiative pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, which focuses on urbanization, globalization, and climate change. She also led the Foundation team on the ground-breaking project to benchmark Social Capital – Trust, Social Networks, Civic Connections, and Neighbourhood Support Rosalyn has also held leadership roles in the arts and culture sector, in particular contemporary craft and design, where she focused on strategy development. She is a recipient of Craft Ontario’s John and Barbara Mather Award for Lifetime Achievement. Currently, she serves as Chair of the Board of Directors, Institute of Southern Georgian Bay and as a Board member of the Blue Mountain Village Foundation. We continue our series focusing on living and working in the Georgian Bay region with our latest guest, Marilyn Struthers! Marilyn Struthers is the principle of M. Struthers & Co. where her work currently includes facilitating, coaching, organizational development and planning for strategic initiatives that support sustainability and leadership in social change organizations. With more than 40 years in many fields of social change organizing, Marilyn has often uses her ‘landscape view’ to reflect on how the sector is working and to document the dramatic changes in financing and collaborative practice as a writer and researcher. Marilyn was the Inaugural John C. Eaton Chair in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ryerson University. Before joining the University she spent 14 years as a funder with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, making provincial and national investments in change-the-world organizations enabling new approaches, networks and collaboration to build the social sector’s capacity to innovate. She worked in many grass roots community organizations working on women’s and First Nations issues, mental health, the arts and children’s mental health often with a focus on rural issues. Jenn Walker has kayaked with monkeys in Thailand, sailed the Nile in Egypt, summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, jumped out of a plane twice, and completed a 50-mile UltraMarathon once just to see if she could. She’s studied kinesiology, psychology, and even a short stint in osteopathy. She is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), a certified personal trainer and a multiple award winning salesperson. She’s worked with world-class athletes, high-level consultants, international pop stars and even an Everest summiter. She integrates mindfulness and Vipassana Meditation into her daily life, and is also a self-proclaimed Neuroscience nerd. That exuberance for life and education extends to her business, where she helps heart-centered entrepreneurs tap into their limitless power and potential so that they can make the impact they are meant to make in our world. Jenn’s asset is not only her understanding of the mind-body connection, but how integral the connection is for the success of both a healthy business and a healthy life. Her unconventional coaching style integrates standard systems and structures mixed with somatic practices. Brandon has grown, bought, and sold multiple successful businesses over his 16 years as an entrepreneur, including his latest The Collingwood Foundry, a coworking community he built to connect and support other entrepreneurs. He actively works with other entrepreneurs to help their businesses grow and has worked with municipal and federal levels of government to form policy for youth entrepreneurship and strategies for economic development. Underlying it all is a constant drive to have a positive impact on his community and the world by connecting and supporting people in following their passion and purpose.

Anna Foat wants to live in a world where changing the status quo isn’t a wild dream, but an achievable reality. An industry expert on sales, marketing and alliances, Anna joined RIM in 1999 pre-300 employees and grew with the company executing deals with IBM, Visa and Mastercard in her tenure. In 2011 when Blackberry had grown to 16,000 employees she left to join IBM as the Worldwide Managing Editor of MobileFirst Platform leading content digital marketing strategy.In 2016 she was invited as the Executive in Residence for the first cohort of the Fierce Founders Accelerator at Communitech. She today works at one of Canada’s major insurers advising the chief transformation officer on the topic of digital transformation. She earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Waterloo and now teaches Design Thinking at Western. She’s a best selling author on the topic of Design Thinking and was named BetaKits top 30 women to watch in tech. When she’s not hustling for the next deal or talking to entrepreneurs you can find her either sipping wine with friends or locked in a hot yoga class trying to find that elusive balance.
